Shields Records 100th Career Strikeout as Behrend Sweeps Hilbert in AMCC Game of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team earned their third-consecutive sweep of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) opponents on Wednesday, downing the Hilbert Hawks by double-digits in both games of the midweek doubleheader.

Game One Key Moments: 

* The Lions were powered by a seven-run second inning after allowing a run in the bottom of the first
* Chase Palmer (Brookeville, PA/Brookville) drove in the first run for Behrend, knocking a single to the right side to score Mac Ciocco (Venetia, PA/Peters Township)
* It would be the first of three-straight RBI singles as Jon Berger (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) and Colin Harger (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) followed by driving in a run each 
* AMCC Player of the Week, Zack Bowen (Pittsburgh, PA/Serra Catholic) delivered a bases-clearing knock and scored later in the inning following a steal of third and an errant throw 
* Isaac Stouffer (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) led off the three-run ninth with a homerun for his third round-tripper of the season

* The Lions scattered 10 runs across five innings in the night cap with three runs scored in the seventh and ninth inning
* Behrend cashed in during the second inning with Juston Jones (Moon Township, PA/Moon) scoring on a triple off the bat of Palmer 
* Palmer scored later in the inning via error to help the Lions take a 2-0 lead
* Palmer would score once again in the seventh following a lead-off single, ultimately crossing the plate on a Zac Bogats (Corapolis, PA/Moon) double 
* Bowen added to the lead with a run-scoring triple, plating Bogats 
* Jeff Zick (Moon, PA/Our Lady of Sacred Heart) went seven-strong innings, fanning 10 and limiting the Hawks to just two hits
