Behrend Baseball Wins Second Consecutive AMCC Title
For the second straight year, the Penn State Behrend baseball team earned the right to be called Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Champions, defeating No. 2 Alfred State by a score of 8-2 on Saturday.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – For the second straight year, the Penn State Behrend baseball team earned the right to be called Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Champions, defeating No. 2 Alfred State by a score of 8-2 on Saturday.
Noteworthy:
* This marked the second straight and eighth overall conference championship in program history
* Also, this is the ninth 30-plus win season for Behrend and first since 2016
* Daniel Boehme (Peters Township, PA/Seton LaSalle), Hank Shaffer (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown), and Jack Baumgartel (Sewickley, PA/North Allegheny) were named to the All-Tournament Team

Key Moments:
* An RBI triple and sacrifice fly from Zach Young and Tyler Korsky gave the Pioneers a 2-0 lead in the top of the first
* Behrend responded in the bottom half of the inning with five runs on four hits
* Shaffer, Thomas Nicely (Delmont, PA/Franklin Regional), Cayden Turner (Stoystown, PA/North Star), and Tyler Burick (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) all recorded RBIs in the inning
* Chase Palmer (Brookville, PA/Brookville) tacked on a run in the third with a sacrifice fly to give Behrend a 6-2 advantage
* The Lions padded their lead in the sixth and seventh innings, scoring on a Boehme RBI single and an Alfred State wild pitch
* Senior starter Evan Bromley (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) settled in after the first, tossing five innings to go along with six hits, two runs, and three strikeouts en route to his sixth win of the season
* Baumgartel picked up his first save of the year with four scoreless inning out of the bullpen, only allowing one hit and striking out three to help Behrend secure the championship and its 30th victory
* Boehme finished 4-for-5 at the plate, while Shaffer chipped in three hits of his own
* For the Pioneers, Zach Young tallied two hits and a run batted in on Saturday
* The Lions had at least one baserunner in every inning
* As a team over the three tournament games, Behrend delivered 33 runs on 41 hits
* In back-to-back seasons, the Lions have earned the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament
