Mt. Union Gets Past Behrend Men's Volleyball

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mt. Union men's volleyball team recorded a 3-1 win over Penn State Behrend in non-conference action on Thursday night.  

Score: Mt. Union 3, Penn State Behrend 1 (25-20, 25-27, 25-22, 26-24)
Records: Penn State Behrend (1-2), Mt. Union (11-2)

Key Moments:

* Mt. Union collected their ninth-straight victory and 11th overall
* The Purple Raiders tallied double-digit kills in each set for the non-conference win
* Despite the 27 service aces, Mt. Union balanced the errors with 56 kills on the night
* Only a few points separated the two teams in the middle of the first set but the Purple Raiders grew the lead to five at 23-18 and the lead stayed for a 1-0 lead in the match
* Logan Hering (North East, PA/North East), Colin Dedert (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) and Cody Schnur (Butler, PA/Butler) each tallied three kills in the second set to help the Lions even the score at 1-all
* Dedert and Schnur each had a kill at the end while Mt. Union posted back-to-back errors to secure the 27-25 set-two win
* The third and fourth set were just as close as the first two sets with the Purple Raiders coming out on top
* Hering led once again with 14 kills and seven digs in four sets of action, while Dedert added nine kills
* Adrian Martinez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) posted a team-best nine digs and Diego Ortiz (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) registered 20 assists and four digs
