HIRAM, Ohio – The Penn State Behrend baseball team picked up its sixth doubleheader sweep of 2025, this time earning two victories at Hiram on Tuesday to extend its win streak to 14 straight games.
Game One: Penn State Behrend 8, Hiram 3
Records: Penn State Behrend (21-6), Hiram (12-16-1)
Key Moments:
* The Terriers struck first with a three-run home run from Tyler Fernandez in the bottom of the first
* After a two-out double from Silvio Ionadi (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) in the top of the third inning, Behrend capitalized on a dropped fly ball by Hiram to knot the score at three apiece
* The big blow in the inning was a two-run homer off the bat of Mac Ciocco (Venetia, PA/Peters Township)
* Starter Evan Bromley ( Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) worked out of a bases loaded one-out jam in the bottom of the third, getting the Terriers fifth and sixth hitters to fly out and groundout to end the threat
* The Lions took the lead in the fifth inning with four runs on five hits
* Ionadi, Daniel Boehme (Peters Township, PA/Seton LaSalle), and Paul Connolly (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) all delivered RBI singles in the inning
* This marked the 100th career run batted in for Boehme
* Bromley settled in after the first inning, not allowing another run to finish five innings with one strikeout to earn his fifth win of the season
* In the seventh inning, Dylan Barnes (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills) extended Behrend's lead to five (8-3) with a two-out RBI single
* Reliever Joe Lang (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) worked two hitless innings with two strikeouts to close out the game one victory for the Lions
* Ciocco and Ionadi each recorded a game-high two hits, while Boehme and Ciocco drove in two runs apiece

* The Lions jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first inning, thanks to a pair of RBIs by Ciocco and Thomas Nicely (Delmont, PA/Franklin Regional)
* Hiram starter Sam Boyle worked out of a second and third one-out jam in the top of the second, forcing a pair of groundballs to get out of the inning
* Fernandez hit his second long ball of the day in the bottom of the second to cut the Terriers deficit to one (2-1)
* Behrend added another run in the third inning on an RBI double from Nicely down the right field line
* In the bottom of the third, an Alejandro DeJesus RBI groundout led to two runs due to an error by the Lions
* Center fielder Chase Palmer (Brookville, PA/Brookville) threw out the go-ahead Hiram runner in the inning at home to keep the game tied at three
* The Terriers grabbed a 4-3 lead on a two-out RBI double by Jimmy Rockow in the fourth
* Back-to-back singles by Barnes and Nicely led to a sacrifice fly from Tyler Burick (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) in the top of the fifth to knot the score back up (4-4)
* The Lions took the lead back with five runs on five hits in the sixth, scoring all their runs with one-out in the inning
* Ciocco notched an RBI single and was followed by Nicely driving home two runs. The inning was capped off by an error from the Hiram left fielder and a two-run double by Burick
* Tyler Banks (Edinboro, PA/General McLane) helped secure the game two win for Behrend with his first collegiate home run in the seventh inning, a three-run shot to right center
* Junior Ethan Tinker (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) tossed the second complete game shutout of the season for the Lions on his way to his second win of the season on the mound, surrendering four earned runs with five strikeouts
* Nicely and Ciocco each finished 3-for-4 in game two with Nicely registering a game-high four runs batted in
* For the Terriers, Rockow went 2-for-2 with an RBI
