Men's Volleyball Sweeps SUNY Potsdam and Wilkes

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team won a pair of non-conference tri-matches against Wilkes and SUNY Potsdam by an identical score of 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Match One:
Score:
Penn State Behrend 3, SUNY Potsdam 0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-22)
Records:  Penn State Behrend (2-4), SUNY Potsdam (5-6)

Key Moments:

* The Behrend Lions jumped out to a 16-4 lead in the first set and held on to win 25-16
* Behrend managed to take another double-digit lead at 18-7 in the second set
* Diego Ortiz (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) had a service ace and then assisted John Cagaeo (Beaver, PA/Lincoln Park Performing Arts) on the kill that won the second set 25-18
* The Lions registered 17 kills in the third set, getting one by Logan Hering (North East, PA/North East) and Dylan Buzalka (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) to close out the third set and the match
* Cody Schnur (Butler, PA/Butler) had eight kills on 13 attempts with no errors for a .615 attack percentage, while adding five blocks
* Hering led with 11 kills and nine digs, while Ortiz finished with 16 assists and eight digs

Records: Penn State Behrend (3-4), Wilkes (4-6)

Key Moments:

* Behrend held the Colonels to single-digit kills in all three sets
* The Lions tallied a .507 attack percentage and held a 41-20 advantage in kills
* Schnur was perfect once again, getting nine kills on 10 attacks with no errors
* JP Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) added seven kills, six services aces and five digs
* As a team, Behrend registered 11 service aces, seven of which came in the second set (25-9)
* The Lions had match point four times, before putting away Wilkes with a kill from Owen Wienczkowski (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf)
* Wienczkowski tallied six kills and three digs
