Buffalo State Bengals Defeat Men's Volleyball in AMCC Championship

BUFFALO, NY – The No. 1 Buffalo State Bengals posted a 3-0 win over No. 3 Penn State Behrend in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship men's volleyball match at Canisius High School on Saturday afternoon.

Score:  Buffalo State 3, Penn State Behrend 0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-22)
Records:  Penn State Behrend (13-16), Buffalo State (20-11)

Noteworthy: Kyle Hoffman (Carlton, PA/Cochranton) and Lewis Rhodes (Reston, VA/South Lakes) were named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team

Key Moments:

* Buffalo State hit .343 and had a match-high 19 kills from Malachi Jackson to earn its first conference championship
* Hoffman had a team-best 10 kills and Cameron Schleicher (Meadville, PA/Meadville) added nine
* In the first set, the Bengals went on a 6-0 run to break a 13-all tie and take a 19-13 lead
* Behrend made it a one-point set at 24-23, but Buffalo State got a kill from Jackson for a 25-23 win for a 1-0 lead
* Buffalo State grabbed a five-point lead at 11-6 in the second set and kept that lead until the end to win 25-20
* Down in the third, Behrend started a comeback and tied the match at 21-all
* The Bengals won the next four out of five points to secure the win at 25-21
* Luke Mumpower (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) had 19 assists, six digs and four kills
* Daniel Easly (Erie, PA/McDowell) added eight kills and six digs
* Behrend finishes the season 13-16 overall
