Behrend Basketball Handles Wooster On The Road

WOOSTER, Ohio - The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team began a lengthy six-game road trip with a 91-55 victory over Wooster Wednesday night. The Lions improved to 4-2 in the young season and handed the Fighting Scots their fifth loss in six contests. 

The Lions got out of the gate quickly, outscoring the Fighting Scots 27-17 in the first quarter. Sophomore Rachel Majewski led the way with 10 points while Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Player-of-the-Week, freshman Madilyn Boyer, contributed 9. Behrend shot 50% from the floor in the first eight minutes, had an 18-7 advantage on the boards, and forced nine Wooster turnovers. 

PSB cooled off a bit in the second but still led by 8, 43-35, at intermission. Majewski and Boyer split 28 first half points evenly. Freshman Ellen Biondi paced the Fighting Scots with 14 in the first half. 

Behrend opened a 20-point lead (62-42) with 4 minutes to play in the third quarter and stretched the margin to 30 (74-44) thanks to a resounding 31-9 margin in that frame. Majewski and freshman Morgan Altavilla each scored 10 in the third eight minutes of play. 

The Behrend bench outscored Wooster 17-11 in the fourth for the final margin. Majewski, Altavilla and Boyer paced the Lions with 24, 19, and 17 points respectively. Behrend, which came into the game with an average 7 rebound-per-game disadvantage, owned the glass 54-34 and forced 28 Wooster miscues. Biondi had 22 of the Wooster points. 

Behrend will pay a visit to Oberlin Saturday, December 3. The tip is scheduled for 2pm.
