ERIE, Pa.  – The Penn State Behrend baseball team opened Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play with a pair of convincing wins over Hilbert on Wednesday afternoon.

Game One (Seven Innings)
Scores: Penn State Behrend 12, Hilbert 0
Records: Penn State Behrend (10-5, 1-0 AMCC), Hilbert (2-11, 0-1 AMCC)

Key Moments

* Starter Thomas Zbezinski (Gibsonia, PA/Pine Richland) threw a complete-game shutout, allowing two hits and striking out five for his third win of the season
* The Lions scored a run in every inning, plating three in the top of the seventh for the final margin
* First baseman Joshua Wagner (South Park, PA/South Park) had a pair of doubles for four RBIs   
* Five other Behrend players had a pair of hits while Ian Taylor (Wexford, PA/Vincentian Academy) and Zack Bowen (Plum Borough, PA/Serra Catholic) had multiple RBIs
* The Hawks got just two hits, the first one coming in the bottom of the fourth with two outs
* The Lions defense did not allow Hilbert to get a player in scoring position

Game Two (Nine Innings)
Scores: Penn State Behrend 12, Hilbert 0
Records: Penn State Behrend (11-5, 2-0 AMCC), Hilbert (2-12, 0-2 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* Behrend extends its winning streak to nine straight with an identical game-one score
* Freshman Donny Watters (Perry, OH/Perry) doubled his season output in hits in one game, going 5-for-5 and scoring three runs
* Senior Scott Sada (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown) and Wagner each went 3-for-6
* Wagner also added three RBIs to finish with seven on the day
* The Lions smacked 17 hits total, getting four straight to start the top of the four-run third inning
* Senior starter Ben Ramey (Export, PA/Franklin Regional) recorded his second win of the season on the mound
* Ramey retired six straight batters into the bottom of the sixth and did not allow a hit over four innings

Noteworthy:

* Sada got a double in each game to push his career total to 78 and puts him four away from breaking the NCAA Division III career record for doubles. Sam Dexter (2013-16) of Southern Maine holds the record of 81 in 194 games played
