Behrend Men's Volleyball Defeats St. Vincent; Falls to Concordia Wisconsin

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team split a pair of matches in their first home tri-match, defeating St. Vincent 3-0 and falling to Concordia Wisconsin 3-2 on Saturday in the Junker Center.

Match One:

Concordia Wisconsin 3, Penn State Behrend 2 (25-15, 21-25, 25-18, 16-25, 15-17)
Records:  Penn State Behrend (1-2), Concordia Wisconsin (1-0)

Key Moments:

* The Falcons opened the season with a five-set victory
* Concordia Wisconsin rallied back from a 2-1 deficit to win the first meeting vs. the Lions
* Behrend has match point at 14-13 thanks to a Falcons attack error
* Concordia Wisconsin used its last time out and won the next two points to get to match point at 15-14
*  Dylan Buzalka (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) tallied his seventh kill of the day to even it, before Concordia Wisconsin won the final two points on a service error and then an ace from Ben Kayser
* Kayser led the match with 19 kills for the Falcons
* For the Lions, Kyle Hoffman (Carlton, PA/Cochranton) and Owen Wienczkowski (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) each tallied eight kills
* Buzalka finished with a team-best 12 digs and added seven kills, five blocks and two aces

Key Moments:

* Behrend handled the Bearcats in straight sets 
* The Lions hit .323 in the second set and held St. Vincent to 13 points
* Behrend had a total of 10 team blocks, two solo and 16 assists
* Hoffman hit .455 on the match with 12 kills on 22 attempt and two errors
* Lewis Rhodes (Reston, VA/South Lakes) had one solo block and six assisted and knocking down seven kills
* Adrian Martinez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) had a team-best seven digs to go with 10 from the first set for 17 on the day
* Josh Elegeer (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) registered eight kills and five digs
