Women’s Tennis Falls to Juniata in Spring Opener

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team played its first match since the fall semester on Tuesday evening, when the Lions lost 6-1 to non-conference opponent Juniata College at the Gorilla House Gym.

Juniata (3-1) swept doubles play, winning all three matches to nab the first point of the night. After that, the Eagles won in No. 1 through No. 5 singles to add five more points to their total and defeat Penn State Altoona (7-11) by five in the Lions' first match of the spring.

Penn State Altoona's lone point of the match came courtesy of Lexi Colaianni (Pittsburgh, PA/Kiski Area), who picked up her team-best 12th singles win of the season with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the No. 6 singles match.

Penn State Altoona women's tennis continues its brief spring schedule with another home match on Tuesday, April 1, when the Lions will host Mount Aloysius College at 6 p.m.
