Women’s Soccer Drops AMCC Game of the Week to Behrend

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's soccer had its four-game win streak snapped on Saturday afternoon, when Penn State Behrend won 4-0 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Game of the Week at Spring Run Stadium.

Penn State Behrend (12-1, 4-0 AMCC) put three goals on the board in the first half to build a solid halftime lead.

Behrend struck first at the 7:39 mark, when Brenna McGuire took Karla Ochoa's pass in the box and beat the keeper on a shot from 10 yards. The visitors scored off of a corner kick at 22:34, as Christine Patterson's corner was headed into the goal by Trinity Prestash. Ochoa gave her team a 3-0 lead at the 33:39 mark, taking a pass from Kristi Buckenheimer in the middle of the field a sailing a 20-yard shot into the goal.

Behrend tacked on one more goal to its total in the second half. McGuire centered the ball for Ochoa in the box, and Ochoa sent a shot into the bottom left corner to make it 4-0 at 54:25.

Mallorie Smith (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) attempted a team-high four shots for Penn State Altoona (5-6, 3-1 AMCC), while Ainsley Griffin (Stafford, VA/Mountain View) and Sarah Huston (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) finished with one shot on goal each.

Jadyn Michael (Berwick, PA/Berwick) started between the pipes for Penn State Altoona and made seven saves.

Penn State Altoona women's soccer is back at home for its final game at Spring Run Stadium during the regular season, as the Lions will host AMCC opponent La Roche University on Tuesday, October 12 at 6:00 p.m. The team will hold its Senior Night ceremony prior to the start of the contest.
