Men’s Soccer Drops to Penn St Behrend in Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament Championship

ERIE, Pa. - The Baldwin Wallace men's soccer team drops to non-conference opponent Penn St Behrend in the championship game of the Herb Lauffer Memorial at Penn St. Behrend.

BW (1-2) got off to a fast start getting on the board in 49 seconds. Senior midfielder Nick Surowicz (Medina/Highland) rifled one past the keeper's outstretched hand. Penn St. Behrend (2-1) was able to respond by getting a goal of their own 24:30 into the game by senior forward Logan Brinsky. The Lions added another two goals via the penalty kick coming by junior midfielder Justin LeDonne and junior forward Nick Laskey. Behrend added one last goal by senior forward Matthew Romesburg Jr. to extend their lead to 4-1. The Yellow Jackets created pressure of their own throughout the half. Leading to eight shots and four shots on goal, including their own penalty kick.

The second half started out with the Lions putting the pressure on the BW defense. The back line stayed strong holding off the chances. The Yellow Jackets' attack got going throughout the second half, creating multiple good looks on net. However, no one was able to break through and the game finished 4-1 in favor of Penn St. Behrend.

In the net for BW, freshman goalkeeper Zoltan Nagy (Lakewood/St. Edward) made six saves on the 10 shots he faced.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Thursday, September 9 at 7:00 p.m. when they host Alleghany (Pa.) College on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium.
