Women’s Tennis Falls 8-1 at Medaille

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona women's tennis suffered its first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference loss of the season, as the Lady Lions lost 8-1 to conference opponent Medaille College on Sunday at the Village Glen Tennis Club.

Medaille (3-0, 2-0 AMCC) swept doubles play with 8-5, 9-7, and 8-4 wins. The Lady Mavericks proceeded to win five out of six singles matches to finish the day with a seven-point victory.

Penn State Altoona (1-3, 1-1 AMCC) picked up its lone point of the day in No. 4 singles, where Sophia Girol (South Park, PA/South Park) won her match 6-3, 6-0 for her team-leading second singles win of the season.

Lady Lions tennis will travel for its next match, as the team hits the road to take on defending AMCC champion Franciscan University this Thursday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m.
