Men’s Volleyball Loses 3-0 to No. 12 Elms

UNION, N.J. – Penn State Altoona men's volleyball suffered another loss to a nationally ranked opponent on Saturday afternoon, when the Lions fell 3-0 to No. 12 Elms College in The Clash at Kean in the Harwood Arena.

Elms (1-1) prevailed by set scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-21.

Penn State Altoona (0-2) was to play another match following the conclusion of the Lions' match against Elms, as the team was scheduled to take on No. 3 Stevens Institute of Technology. But the day's second round of matches at Kean was cancelled due to worsening winter weather.

Frank Perehinec (Altoona, PA/Altoona) posted nine kills, nine digs, one service ace, and one block assist for Penn State Altoona on Saturday, while Nathaniel Reinert (State College, PA/State College) finished with eight kills and three digs.

Tyler Sheaffer (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) and Ben Beaver (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) tied for the team-high in assists with 12 each. Sheaffer also had seven digs, six kills, and one service ace, while Beaver tallied five kills, two digs, and one solo block.

Matthew Vandeveire (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) totaled a team-high 10 digs. Nikolas Ferraro (Toms River, NJ/Donovan Catholic) had one block assist.

Next up for Penn State Altoona, the Lions will host their home opener on Friday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m. against Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Hiram College.
