Huston’s Goals Lead Lions Past Medaille

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona women's soccer faced a familiar foe on Sunday afternoon, taking on former Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Medaille University. The Lions hung on for a 2-1 victory at Buffalo Color Park.

Sarah Huston (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) scored her first two goals of the season for Penn State Altoona (3-4-4), with Sadie McConnell (New Enterprise, PA/Northern Bedford) and Mallorie Smith (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) recording assists.

Adeline Baustert (Apollo, PA/Apollo-Ridge) made her 11th start of the season at goalkeeper and picked up her third win of the fall.

With the score tied 0-0 at halftime, Huston scored second-half goals at 56:42 and 65:16 to put the Lions up by a pair. Medaille (1-7-1) cut the Penn State Altoona lead in half when a Kelsey Matuszak goal at 76:34 made it 2-1, but the Lions allowed no further damage the rest of the way.

Penn State Altoona was dominant statistically, posting big advantages over Medaille in shot attempts (22-6), shots on goal (11-1), and corner kicks (2-0).
