Women’s Soccer Downed in AMCC Semifinal Matchup

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Number one seed Pitt-Greensburg scored two second-half goals to hand the fourth-seeded Penn State Altoona women's soccer team a 2-0 loss in Wednesday afternoon's Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament semifinal game at Ridilla Field.

With its win, Pitt-Greensburg (15-3-1) advances to the AMCC championship game this Saturday, November 5, when it will host the winner of today's game between Mount Aloysius College and Penn State Behrend for a shot at the conference title. Meanwhile, Penn State Altoona (6-7-5) is eliminated from the postseason tournament.

Adeline Baustert (Apollo, PA/Apollo-Ridge) made her 18th start of the season for the Lions and recorded five saves in the loss. Sadie McConnell (New Enterprise, PA/Northern Bedford) and Jordan Yaletsko (Philadelphia, PA/Philadelphia Academy Charter) each finished with a shot on goal for Penn State Altoona.

The Lions held off Pitt-Greensburg for much of the game, as the teams were deadlocked in a 0-0 score until the 68th minute, when the Bobcats broke the tie. Julia Rowe dribbled to the middle of the field in Penn State Altoona's end, then floated a high shot that deflected off of the crossbar and down into the goal at 67:01 for the game's first score.

Pitt-Greensburg tacked a late goal on to their total when Megan Hickey scored at 89:41.
