Women’s Soccer Stifled 1-0 by W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team traveled to Washington, Pa. on Wednesday night, where they lost a tight game against Washington & Jefferson College by a score of 1-0.

While the game was fairly even for much of the first half into the second, the Lions (0-3) were unable to muster much offense. The lone goal on the evening was scored at the 59:11 mark of the second half by Washington & Jefferson's Katie Hahn.

The Lions managed to put three shots on goal out of their six total attempts, while Washington & Jefferson (2-2) had 12 total shots with seven of them on the net. Haley Chambers (Athens, PA/Athens), Ainsley Griffin (Stafford, VA/Mountain View), and Anaya Phillips (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) each had one shot on goal for the Lions.

Penn State Altoona goalkeeper Jadyn Michael (Berwick, PA/Berwick) tallied six saves in her first appearance of the season for the Lions.

The next game for the Penn State Altoona women's soccer team will take place on Sunday, September 12, when they host non-conference opponent Lycoming College at 1:00 p.m.
