Behrend Bests Women’s Tennis 8-1

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team suffered a conference loss on Saturday afternoon, losing 8-1 to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend.

Behrend (2-4, 1-1 AMCC) won the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches by scores of 8-1 and 8-0 to grab the lead in Saturday's match.

Penn State Altoona (0-3, 0-2 AMCC) recorded a point in doubles play with a victory in the No. 3 spot, where the team of Isabella Rhoades (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone)/Stephanie Swain (Yadkin County, NC/Forbush) secured an 8-3 win for their first doubles triumph of the season together. It also marked the first career doubles win for Rhoades.

But Behrend battled to win all six singles matches, earning a seven-point win on its home court.

Penn State Altoona women's tennis returns home for its next match, when the Lions will host Division II opponent Lock Haven University on Wednesday, September 21 at 4:30 p.m.
