Men’s Tennis Dominates Mt. Aloysius for Eighth Consecutive Win

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's tennis team held on to its winning streak on Thursday afternoon, when the Lions posted a 9-0 win against Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Mount Aloysius College at The Summit Tennis and Athletic Club.
The Lions (8-3, 4-0 AMCC) secured their eighth victory in a row this season by winning all three doubles matches and all six singles matches to blank Mt. Aloysius (2-12, 0-4 AMCC).
In the No. 1 doubles match, the pair of Casey Hess (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona)/Andrew Chronister (York, PA/Dallastown) defeated their opponents 8-0, improving their perfect record together this season to 11-0. Nick Beard (Manns Choice, PA/Bedford)/Kadyn Carey (Altoona, PA/Altoona) picked up their eighth win of the season in the No. 2 spot after pulling out an 8-4 victory. In No. 3 doubles, the tandem of Wilhelm Grot (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone)/Parth Raval (Mumbai, India/Thakur Polytechnic) prevailed 8-0 to record their third victory together.
Chronister got a 6-2, 6-2 win in his No. 1 singles match for his 11th win of the season, staying undefeated at 11-0. Meanwhile, Hess improved on the season, notching his ninth singles win by beating his opponent 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 2 spot. Beard played to a 6-3, 6-0 decision in the No. 3 match to record his eighth win of the season, and Carey grabbed his fourth win by virtue of a 6-0, 6-1 triumph in the No. 4 slot. Emmett Hibbs (Richfield, PA/East Juniata) and Jackson Newell (Leechburg, PA/Kiski) each earned their seventh win of the season, with both of them prevailing 6-0, 6-0 to pull out the No. 5 and No. 6 singles match victories.
Penn State Altoona wraps up its AMCC regular season play at home on Sunday, April 14, as the Lions will host Penn State Behrend in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
