Women’s Soccer Suffers First AMCC Loss to Behrend

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team was dealt its first conference loss of the season on Saturday afternoon, when Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend posted a 5-0 win over the Lions at Spring Run Stadium.

Behrend (5-8-1, 4-0 AMCC) got a hat trick from Trinity Prestash in the win, as the visitors remained perfect in the conference through their first four league games of the schedule.

Adeline Baustert (Apollo, PA/Apollo-Ridge) made four saves for Penn State Altoona (3-5-5, 1-1-2 AMCC) in her 13th start of the season at goalkeeper. Dee Dee Abbott (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) and Mallorie Smith (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) each recorded one shot on goal for the Lions.

Prestash netted her first goal of the game at 16:52, when she took a centering pass from Lizzie Hoff and fired a shot into the net from 12 yards out. Prestash made it 2-0 at the 34:28 mark, when she received Emily Clopp's pass into the box and sent another shot from 12 yards into the goal.

Prestash notched the hat trick early in the second half, when she took the ball near midfield and dribbled into the Penn State Altoona box, curving a shot inside the left post at 53:05 to give the visitors a 3-0 advantage.

Behrend added goals from Karla Ochoa and Arina Dillinger later in the period.

Penn State Altoona finished the game with a 4-3 advantage over Behrend in corner kicks, while Behrend had a 17-8 lead in shot attempts and a 9-2 edge in shots on goal.

The Lions travel for their next game, when the team will hit the road to take on AMCC opponent Pitt-Greensburg this upcoming Wednesday, October 19 at 3:15 p.m.
