All institution sport teams which compete for an AMCC championship may select one member from their team who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be a member of the All-AMCC Sportsmanship Team.
Malenfant was the Pioneers' best finisher at the John Summa Invite on Saturday. Malenfant was the runner-up in the 184 lb bracket after falling by decision in the final to the No. 3 ranked NCAA DII wrestler. Malenfant started his day with two straight pinfall victories, bringing his pin total to 20 and setting a new ASC record.
Welch had a 1st-place finish in the 285-lb bracket at the Jamestown Community College Open. The senior beat Niagara Community College by decision (3-2), Ohio Wesleyan by decision (8-2) and Pitt Bradford by decision (7-2).
Malenfant placed first at the NY Collegiate Championship, scoring 23.0 team points. Malenfant went 4-0 with four pinfalls on his way to a state title at 184.
Vinci went 3-0 in dual meet action, including a major decision win and two decision wins, while competing in two different weight classes (141 and 149lb) for the Pioneers.
Johnson had an impressive debut in a Pitt-Bradford uniform, as he picked up three victories by pins in the AMCC Quad meet this weekend, wrestling in the 141 lb weight class. He started the day with a fall at 1:23 in the Panthers' win over Hiram. He followed this up with his second straight pin, winning his match in 1:29 in the victory over Penn State-Behrend. Finally, he closed the event with his most impressive bout of the day in the Panthers' loss to Alfred State. He pinned Alfred State's 2022 National Championship qualifier in just 41 seconds to give Pitt-Bradford a then 12-6 lead.
The Pitt-Bradford wrestling team hosted the inaugural AMCC quad-meet on Saturday afternoon with Alfred State College coming out victorious at the end of the day.
AMCC wrestling schools will take to the mats this Satuday, January 7 at Pitt-Bradford for the AMCC Quad Meet. The meet will feature the only official AMCC competition in the first season of wrestling being a conference-sponsored sport.
Gietler had a strong week for Pitt-Bradford, going 3-1 in dual matches while wrestling above his normal weight class. Gietler started his week by picking up a win by fall against Penn State-Behrend in 6:07. At the Lycoming Duals, Gietler went 2-1 on the day. He lost a tough match by decision against Oswego State and then won by fall at 4:58 against Keystone and earned the Panthers' only points in a loss to Lycoming as he won by a 20-7 major decision.
Miraglia was the 149 runner-up at the RIT Invitational, defeating the tournament #1 Seed in the 149 Semifinal. Miraglia recieved a bye in the Championship Round 1 before winning by fall over Dario Molina (Wesleyan (CT)) (Fall 1:18) in the Championship Round 2. In the Championship Round 3, Miraglia won by decision over Luke Lupisella (St. John Fisher) (Dec 5-2) before winning by tech fall over Colin Jens (Pennsylvania College of Technology) (TF 17-0) in the Quarterfinal. Miraglia moved on to the Semifinal round and won by decision over Mike Glynn (RIT) (Dec 8-3) before advancing to the 1st Place Match when Chris Perry (Trinity (CT)) won by decision over Miraglia (Dec 3-1).
Ilges finished in third place in the 197 lb. weight class with 13.0 team points in the ECWC Championships, receiving All-ECWC honors for the third time. In the quarterfinals, Ilges won by tech fall over his Brockport opponent (TF 17-2) before falling to returning All-American Chibueze Chukwuezi by tech fall. In the consolation round, Ilges won by decision over his Oswego opponent (Dec 6-4) and for the third place match he won by decision over his Ithaca counterpart (Dec 6-3).
Malenfant earned four victories by pinfall last week, including three in the Electric City Duals, helping Pioneers to earn the team champion title in the Electric City Duals for the first time in program history. Against Elmira on Wednesday, he won by pinfall at the 1:15 mark of the bout to put the Pioneers ahead 33-3. In the Electric City Duals, the Pioneers found themselves down 13-12 to NJCU after the 165 lb bout, but a pinfall victory by 174 Malenfant gave the Pioneers the lead again, and they didn't look back. Malenfant added two more wins by pinfall against Oneonta and Scranton while also picking up the forfeit over Rowan to go undefeated on the week.
Slovick had a strong debut for the Panthers, going 4-3 at the Adrian Invitational. Wrestling in the 165 lb. freshman/sophomore bracket, Slovick battled back from an opening loss to win four straight matches. He pinned three opponents and added a 16-0 tech fall. He lost the consolation semi-final match and then finished in sixth place.
