ALFRED STATE WRESTLING SWEEPS AMCC QUAD MEET

The Pitt-Bradford wrestling team hosted the inaugural AMCC quad-meet on Saturday afternoon with Alfred State College coming out victorious at the end of the day.

Alfred State finished the event in first with a 3-0 record. Pitt-Bradford was second at 2-1 and Hiram College secured third with a 33-22 win over Penn State-Behrend in the final match of the event.

The Pioneers defeated Pitt-Bradford 34-18 to start off the day. After the Pioneers fell in the early bouts to trail 12-6, Sean Peterson won by pinfall to tie the match up at 12. Justin Smith and Cale Bartosch kept the momentum on Alfred State's side with victories in the 157 and 165 matches. With the Pioneers up 18-12, Pitt- Bradford claimed the 174 lb bout with a pinfall victory to tie the match back up at 18. The Pioneers' Sean Malenfant won by pinfall and Blake Ilges won by major decision to give the Pioneers the victory down the home stretch.

Alfred State then beat Penn St. Behrend 51-4 and won seven bouts by pinfall. Ben Lloyd, Peterson, Smith, Bartosch, Johnny Layfield, Malenfant, and Ilges all won by pinfall. Evan Albrecht finished the match off with a heavyweight win by decision.

Alfred State finished the day against Hiram and won 42-6. The Pioneers got early victories from Brandon Tanner and Elijah Moshenek, while Zachary Levey followed with a pinfall win in his debut as an Alfred State Pioneer. Smith collected another pinfall win and Bartosch followed with a tech fall win 20-2. Justin Hoffman and Malenfant won the 184 and 197 bouts for Alfred State, both by pinfall.

Pitt-Bradford freshman Ja'Shad Bumpers picked up three victories on the day, including pins against Hiram and Alfred State. Braedon Johnson had a memorable debut for the Panthers, earning three pins himself. 

The Hiram Terriers lost to Pitt-Bradford (32-19) and Alfred State (42-6) before beating Penn State Behrend (33-22) to wrap up their first event in nearly a month. Junior Alex Savering, senior Devan Welch, and sophomore Jimmy Thomas all earned two wins for the Terriers.

Despite going 0-3 on the day, the Behrend Lions got a par of wins from Zach Dellinger. He registered two major decisions, one against the Pioneers and another against Hiram.
