Women's Tennis opens 2023 season with loss to Penn State Altoona
PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women's tennis began its first year as a member of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) with a match against Penn State Altoona Saturday morning.
The Nittany Lions defeated the Celtics, 6-3, on the day.
Altoona swept the two doubles sets, 8-2 and 8-5.
Julia Piatt took the No. 2 singles match to a tiebreak round, but narrowly lost, 10-8, after going 6-6 the first two sets.
Jensen Stolitza won in the No. 4 singles spot. Stolitza lost the first set, 6-4, but rallied to win the second, 6-2, to force a tiebreak. She won the tiebreak set, 10-5.
The Celtics return to action at the Grove City College tournament Sept. 6.
