AMCC 25TH ANNIVERSARY THEN & NOW SERIES: KEITH HACK, MEDAILLE COLLEGE

Keith Hack got his start in the AMCC as a member of the Medaille College men’s basketball team during the years of 2006-2010. Hack was named head coach of the men’s basketball team in 2019.

During his time playing for the Mavericks, Hack became one of the most dominant players in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC). He finished his career with 1,211 points, 544 rebounds and 150 assists.

Hack improved each year while playing for Medaille. He broke numerous school records in career-highs. During his senior season, Hack made single-season history as well. He had 188 rebounds earning him top-10, and totaled 129 defensive rebounds, earning him fourth in program history.

While continuing to break school records, during his junior season, Hack helped bring the Mavs to AMCC regular season and tournament titles. That led to a bid to the NCAA Tournament. During his senior year, the team did it again, this time getting their first win in program history in the NCAA Tournament.

Hack’s outstanding performance throughout his career earned him spots on AMCC All-Conference Honorable Mention for the 2007-08 season, First Team Selections in 2008-09 and 2009-10, and in his senior year, he was named AMCC Men’s Basketball Player of the Year. He was the first Maverick to ever earn the title.

After being hired as the Head Coach in 2019, Hack led the Mavs to an 11-14 (9-11 AMCC) record. The team only narrowly missed the postseason. Under his leadership, Hack helped Kirk Hawkins and Jonathan Smith to 1,000 point scorers while they were at Medaille.

Hack is currently in his second official year of coaching due to COVID-19. The Mavericks are sitting on a 1-3 record so far, all non-conference opponents. Conference play will start for the Mavericks on Saturday, December 5th.

The Then and Now Series is part of the AMCC's 25th anniversary where the conference will be recognizing current AMCC coaches and/or athletic administrators who are former AMCC student-athletes. The Then and Series will run every Tuesday throughout the academic year.
