First half scoring run deals Men’s Soccer loss at home

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University men's soccer lost a 4-0 nonconference match to Penn State New Kensington at Highmark Stadium Thursday night.

The Nittany Lions (5-3) out-shot the Celtics (1-6-1), 27-16 (13-4 on goal), on the night.

New Kensington scored three of its goals within the span of three minutes in the first half.

The Nittany Lions' first goal came at 22' when Benjamin Gigliotti saved the ball from crossing the goal line and kicked it back out to Jacob Guerrini who took the shot.

Ethan Hutcherson scored back-to-back unassisted goals at 23' and 24' to put New Kensington ahead, 3-0.

Carlow prevented the Nittany Lions from scoring for the next 36 minutes, but Guerrini landed his second goal of the night at 58' when he stole the ball from Carlow's defender and poked it into the net.

The Celtics put up triple the shots they took in the first half and were awarded three corner kicks, but could not get anything to fall.

Goalkeeper Kevin Garcia recorded nine saves, including a huge one at 72' he tipped off his fingers and deflected over the crossbar.
