Men’s Basketball shots refuse to fall in AMCC road loss to Pitt Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. --- Carlow University men's basketball lost a lopsided 91-48 AMCC game to Pitt Bradford on the road Saturday.

The Panthers (12-11, 8-8 AMCC) held the Celtics (4-19, 2-14 AMCC) to 24 points in each half, with Carlow shooting just 25.4 percent (17 for 67) from the field on the day.

Riley Comforti led the Celtics with a double-double 11 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and an assist. He was the only Carlow player to score in double digits. Byron Gaskins picked up five steals in the effort.

The Celtics started out with a 6-5 lead before Pitt Bradford went on a 14-6 run over the next five minutes to lead 19-12 at the halfway point. The Panthers put together another run of 16-4 over the course of the following five minutes to push their advantage to 19 with five minutes remaining in the half. Pitt Bradford took a 45-24 lead into intermission.

The Panthers held Carlow scoreless for the first three minutes of the second half and went on a 12-0 run that spanned over five minutes to push their lead to 35 with a little over eight minutes remaining in the game.

The Panthers sank seven treys on the afternoon and outrebounded the Celtics, 55-36. Pitt Bradford outscored Carlow 44-24 in the paint and 25-12 off the bench.

Jamarion Butler led the Panthers with a game-high 18 points. Jesse Laster added a double-double 17 points and 14 boards, and three other Pitt Bradford players recorded double figures in the win.

The Celtics make a quick trip up the highway to face La Roche University for a 7 p.m. AMCC game Feb. 14.
