The La Roche College Redhawks clinched an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional after defeating Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday for their fifth straight AMCC Championship and their sixth in the past seven years.

Urban hit a grand slam to overcome a 3-1 seventh inning deficit and help La Roche beat Pitt-Greensburg 7-3 in the AMCC Championship Game. Urban drove in five runs on the day as the Redhawks picked up their fifth straight AMCC Championship. Urban leads the AMCC in stolen bases.

La Roche College wins another AMCC baseball title after coming back to beat Pitt-Greensburg 7-3 in the AMCC Championship Game. It is their fifth straight AMCC Title and their AMCC-record sixth in the past seven years.

The AMCC baseball tournament continued on a cool, overcast Friday in Pittsburgh, PA as two more teams were sent home and two teams remain as we head into the final match-up tomorrow morning.

#2 Pitt-Greensburg and #1 La Roche College both picked up victories on day one of the AMCC baseball championship tournament. #2 Pitt-Greensburg defeated #3 Penn State Behrend 8-3 in the first game of the day, while #1 La Roche earned the 8-2 decision over #5 Penn State Altoona in game two.

With a 16-2 conference record, La Roche College is once again the AMCC regular season champion and has earned hosting rights to the conference championship tournament this weekend.

Herzing had another standout performance from the mound to give the Lions a game one victory over Hilbert in the first round the AMCC playoffs. In his three-hit complete game, he sat down 13 batters while only giving up one walk and one earned run.

Parent belted three home runs last week on his way to recording 10 RBIs 10 runs scored and a stellar 1.300 slugging % to lead the Panther offense in a crucial week. He went 12-for-20 (.600) in five games and had seven extra base hits while drawing four walks and recording a perfect fielding percentage behind the plate. With his eighth homer of the season Sunday, he has tied the Pitt-Bradford single-season record.

Penn State Altoona baseball's sophomore shortstop Hunter Breon and freshman catcher Richard Carey picked up two more awards on Tuesday for their excellent performances at the plate last week, as they were chosen to receive a pair of recognitions from the Eastern College Athletic Conference.

Breon had a huge week at the plate to help the Lions go 6-0, including a pair of AMCC doubleheader sweeps. On the week, the sophomore hit .609 (14-for-23) with 13 runs scored, 10 RBI, five doubles, one triple, three walks, and one stolen base. Breon posted a .630 on-base percentage and slugged .913.

AMCC baseball teams have been battling fierce weather all spring and are entering the final stretch of the regular season. Not only are they trying to get all of their conference gamed played, but they're also trying to rise as high as they can in conference standings as the conference tournament is suddenly in sight. The AMCC baseball game of the week features fifth-place Penn St. Altoona (7-7) at fourth-place Pitt-Bradford (7-4).

Thomas picked up two conference wins on the mound last week with victories over Pitt-Greensburg and Mount Aloysius. With one start and one appearance in relief, Thomas threw 6.2 scoreless innings and struck out nine while registering the 0.0 ERA.

Spina led the Redhawks to a 5-1 week in conference action to remain at the top of league standings. Spina hit .519 (14-for-27) with nine runs, eight RBI, and six stolens bases.

The Penn State Behrend baseball team split with Pitt-Greensburg Sunday afternoon in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action. Greensburg took game one 2-1 before Behrend took a 21-12 win in the nightcap, giving head coach Paul Benim his 600th career victory.

The national recognition keeps rolling in for Penn State Behrend senior pitcher Jack Herzing and Pitt-Bradford junior catcher Austin Parent. Both players received the highest weekly award as they were named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division III Pitcher and Player of the Week for their performances during games played April 9-15.

Penn State Behrend pitcher Jack Herzing was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) North Division III Pitcher of the Week and made the D3baseball.com Team of the Week, announced on Tuesday. Pitt-Bradford junior catcher Austin Parent also made the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week and is finalist for HEROSports.com D3 HERO of the Week.

The AMCC baseball game of the week features a showdown of the leagues top two teams in La Roche College (18-5-1, 7-1 AMCC) and Pitt-Greensburg (15-8, 8-2 AMCC). The Redhawks have won four straight conference games since dropping an 11-9 decision to Hilbert College on April 6. The Panthers have won seven of their past eight conference games, but split their most recent double-header to Pitt-Bradford. Both teams enter Wednesday's games looking to hold onto or obtain the top spot in conference standings.

Herzing's pitching performance is going to be one to remember after breaking the Penn State Behrend school record for most career strikeouts, along with throwing a no-hitter against Hilbert College. On the week, he struck out 31 batters and allowed just one hit on 14 innings of work. In game one against Hilbert, Herzing threw a no-hitter he where he struck out a 15 of the total 21 batters he faced, and retired the side himself on three separate occasions. Then on Friday, Herzing put on a strikeout clinic in a 7-0 win over Alfred State. He fanned the first nine batters he faced, and threw a no-hitter threw five innings. In the top of the fourth, the left-handed hurler sat down his 11th batter of the game to broke a new school record for the most strikeouts in his career, setting the new mark of 257 K's. He ended the game with 16 K's while only allowing one hit.

Parent had a red-hot week for the Panthers as his performance propelled them to a 4-1 record in conference play. Parent belted five home runs and collected 14 RBI in five games. Two of his home runs were grand slams, and he hit three in one day at Pitt-Greensburg. He scored at least one run in each game, totaling 13 overall. For the week, Parent batted 13-for-23 (.565), had seven extra-base hits, and a staggering 1.304 slugging percentage, while also drawing two walks and adding a stolen base.

Penn State Altoona freshman pitcher Sawyer Kline was selected the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Rookie of the Week for the Division III South Region on Tuesday for his performance last week.

Jacobs had a big day in the Lions' doubleheader sweep of AMCC opponent Alfred State on Friday. In game one, the sophomore batted 1-for-2 with three runs scored and two walks. In game two, he was 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, four RBI, and three runs scored. On the week, Pete hit .714 (5-for-7) with six runs, four RBI, two walks, one double, and one homer. He posted a .778 on-base percentage and slugged 1.286.

The honors for the Alfred State College baseball duo Colin Johnson and Lucas Cornell continue to roll in. Both were key in the Pioneers winning five of six games last week.

Cornell was 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA in 11.1 innings of work. He threw a complete game shutout vs. Wells in which he struck out 12 and allowed just three hits and then tossed 4.1 innings vs. Pitt-Greensburg allowing four hits and two runs but not factoring in the decision. In his two appearances, Cornell struck out 16 batters, averaging 12.71 strikeouts per nine innings.

Johnson collected a hit in each of the five games he played this week. He had a huge DH vs. Pitt Greensburg where he was 5-for-6 with two home runs and six RBIs. For the week, Johnson went 10-for-16, collecting five extra base hits and nine RBIs along with scoring seven runs of his own as the Pioneers were 5-1, including 3-1 in conference play.
