AMCC ANNOUNCES BASEBALL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM; THOMAS AND PARENT TAKE TOP HONORS

2018 AMCC Baseball Player of the Year honors goes to Pitt-Bradford junior catcher Austin Parent. Parent led the conference and finished top-six nationally with a .491 overall batting average. His batting average is tied for third-best all-time in AMCC history. He led the nation with a .614 on-base percentage. Parent never cooled down in AMCC play, hitting .522, posting a .625 on-base percentage and slugging 1.014. In conference play, he led the AMCC in home runs (7), total bases (70), walks (19), on-base and slugging. Parent also ended the season riding a 15-game hitting streak. Behind the plate, he posted a .960 fielding percentage and threw out eight would-be base stealers. He picked up national honors on April 18 as he was named the NCBWA National Player of the Week and was also named to the D3baseball.com team of the week.

La Roche College sophomore Tre Thomas has been named the AMCC Pitcher of the Year. Thomas ranked third in the nation in ERA (1.48 in 54.2 innings pitched). He led the AMCC in conference play in starts (5), wins (6), and ERA (1.15), while also ranking second in strikeouts (41) and third in innings pitched (31.1). 

Pitt-Greensburg's Mike Dolan and La Roche's Jay Novak share Newcomer of the Year honors. Dolan posted a .370 batting average on the season, including a .426 average in AMCC action. The rookie belted six home runs and ranked sixth in the AMCC with an .809 slugging percentage in conference play.

Novak ranked second in the AMCC in RBI (26), eighth in triples (2), ninth in hits (28), eleventh in total bases (43), and twelfth (.406) in batting average.

La Roche head coach Chase Rowe gets the nod for Coach of the Year for the fifth consecutive season, and seventh time in the past eight years. Rowe led the Redhawks to a 16-2 conference record and hosting rights to the conference tournament. In additional to their regular season title, La Roche also claimed their fifth straight conference title and a trip to the NCAA national tournament.
