    Penn State Altoona Athletics has announced the hiring of Bradley Brooks as the next head coach of its men’s and women’s swimming program.
  • FOUR SWIMMING & DIVING TEAMS EARN CSCAA SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICA HONORS

    The Penn State Behrend, Pitt-Bradford, and Cabrini University women's swimming and diving teams have been named Division III Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Alfred State College was the lone school on the men's side to pick up the same honor.

    All institution sport teams which compete for an AMCC championship may select one member from their team who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be a member of the All-AMCC Sportsmanship Team. These individuals are selected by vote of their teammates. 
  • PATTERSON, BEACH, SCHWAB TAKE MEN'S SWIMMING TOP HONORS

    PS-Behrend junior Mark Patterson was named the AMCC Swimmer of the Year for the second year in a row as he was the only swimmer at the AMCC championships to hit an NCAA "B" cut time.

    Beach was named AMCC Diver of the Year for the second straight year after winning the 1m and 3m competitions. He won the 3m competition with a new school record of 433.4 points while winning the 1m title with 432 points.
  • Mark Patterson, Penn St. Behrend, Men's Swimming

    Patterson was named the AMCC Swimmer of the Year and was the only swimmer at the championships to hit an NCAA "B" cut time. He was the individual champion in three events (500 free, 200 free and 200 back). Patterson also swam on two winning relays. Overall on the weekend, he set 10 individual records and helped set the pool record in the 400 medley relay.

  • MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING PREPARES FOR AMCC CHAMPIONSHIP

    The AMCC men's swimming and diving teams will take to the starting blocks this week for the 2018 AMCC championship meet. Hosted by Penn State Behrend at the Junker Center, the diving events will lead off Wednesday evening, with the swimming events to follow Thursday, February 15 through Saturday, February 17.
  • BEHREND'S KUCHCKINSI EARNS ECAC HONORS

    Penn State Behrend freshman Matthew Kuchcinski (North East, PA/North East) was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) North Division III Rookie of the Week, announced on Wednesday. Kuchcinski posted two first-place finishes in both the one-meter and three-meter dives against St. Vincent last week, finishing with scores of 223.70 and 247.20, respectively. He also notched two second-place finishes against Malone, recording a 222.50 score in the one-meter, and a 236.95 in the three-meter. The men's swimming and diving team returns to action when they host the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships on February 14.

    Kuchcinski won the one-meter board with a score of 223.70 and then scored 247.20 on the three-meter board for first place vs. St. Vincent. On friday night, he placed second on both boards.

    Schmidt won the 500 freestyle in 5:00.03 and placed second in the 1000 freestyle (10:24.80). Schmidt also swam on the second-place 200 freestyle relay to help the Lions defeat St. Vincent by four points.

    Four AMCC men's and women's swimming and diving teams were named College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Teams for the Fall 2017 semester. Teams picking up the honor include Cabrini University women, Alfred State College men, and both the men and women's teams from Pitt-Bradford.

    Mousley continued his impressive rookie campaign, adding three individual event victories, capturing the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:32.84), 500-yard freestyle (4:59.26) and 100-yard freestyle (51.52) in Saturday's win over Alfred State.
  • Ben Koss, Pitt-Bradford, Men's Swimming

    Koss On Friday, he earned a pair of victories (200-IM, 2:06.68; 100-freestyle, 48.76) to help the Panthers to a road win at Alfred State. On Saturday, Koss started the tri-meet with a bang as he was part of the 400-medley relay team that broke the pool record at the Paul C. Duke III Aquatic Center with a time of 3:40.97. He then went on to earn the first individual win of the day in the 200-freestyle with a time of 1:48.45.

    Kuchcinski beat out the W&J diver in the one-meter and three-meter boards. He started with a 210.15 on the one-meter for first place and then posted a score of 189.30 to win the three-meter event.
  • Matt Schaeffer, Cabrini University, Men's Swimming

    Schaeffer scored a trio of wins over two events last weekend. In Friday's meet at Ursinus, the sophomore won the 200 IM (2:02.38) and 100 breast (1:02.78), while participating on a relay team that finished second in the 200 medley relay (1:45.97). Two days later, Schaeffer won the 400 IM (4:26.34) at Widener. His relay teams also finished second in the 200 medley relay (1:45.04) and 400 free relay (3:29.72).

    Mousley captured the 500-yard freestyle (5:08.01) and the 1000-yard freestyle (11:27.09) to lead Cabrini to a win over Bethany. The rookie has now won each of his last six individual races.

    Beach led the Pioneer Divers at Fredonia as Beach won the 3m competition with 332.30 points and was second in the 1m with 358 points.
  • Mark Patterson, Penn St. Behrend, Men's Swimming

    Patterson won the 500 free (4:46.30) and the 200 backstroke (1:53.11) for the Lions this weekend, while placing second in the 200 free (1:43.40). He also swam on three winning relays and took third in another. Patterson helped lead the Lions to a first place finish (out of nine teams) at the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational.

    Dale won the 50 breast (30.68), the 100 breast (1:05.76), and the 200 IM (2:09.34). Dale was also part of the winning 200 medley relay team that finished in 1:47.97.

    Kuchcinski kept his winning streak alive on both diving boards against Baldwin Wallace on Saturday. On the one-meter board, he won with a score of 281.80. He later posted a score of 224.50 on the three-meter for first place.

    Mousely led the Cavaliers on Saturday against Albright College as he scored a victory in the 1,650-yard freestyle, posting a time of 17:24.45, slicing more than 20 seconds from Todd Walker's previous mark. One day later at Marywood, Mousley posted a winning time of 10:41.21 to capture the 1,000-yard freestyle. Later in the meet, the freshman added a victory in the 500-yard freestyle, reaching wall in 4:58.99. Mousley joined fellow freshman Luke McDevitt and Nick Conroy and sophomore Matt Schaeffer in the meet's final event, as the quartet won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:35.55 to seal the win for Cabrini.

    Beach was 2nd in the 1m diving competition (244.60) and 2nd in the 3m (236.30) against Buffalo St. - both of his marks break his previous school records.
  • Michael Bauer, Penn State Behrend, Men's Swimming

    Bauer was a triple winner in the 155-46 victory over Chatham. He was one of four that made up the opening winning 200 medley relay team (1:43.63). Bauer then won the 100 breaststroke (1:06.21) and then was nine seconds faster than second place in the 200 backstroke with a first-place time of 2:05.51.

    Kuchcinski earned second-place finishes on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards against Westminster on Saturday. On the one-meter, he had a score of 203.00 and on the three-meter he recorded a score of 206.65.
