Baseball Drops First Two On The West Coast

TACOMA, WA- The Alfred State baseball team dropped the first 2 games in the series vs University of Puget Sound, losing game one 7-3 and game two 3-2.

 

In Game 1-

Ryan Bailey got the start for the Pioneers going 5.2 innings striking out seven batters but surrendering seven earned runs. Spencer Riehler came in relief and had a great outing going 2.1 innings striking out three batters and only giving up one hit. The Pioneer offense struggled in game one, only getting one hit through the first 6 innings. The Pios finally got on the board in the 7th with an RBI single from Tyler Korsky. Elijah Barinas had two hits in the game and a RBI single in the 7th. The big lead Puget Sound got out too was too much for the Pioneers to overcome.

 

In Game 2-

Jon White got the ball on the mound for the Pioneers. White had yet another phenomenal outing going 7 innings, striking out five while only giving up four hits and no runs. The game was a pitcher's duel for the first 6 innings as neither team put a run on the board. The Pios got on the board first when Tyler Petery scored on a well-run 1st and 3rd play. UPS took the lead in the 8th with a string of hits. The Pios tied the game in the top of the 9th with two outs from an RBI double from Bobby Sellers. In the Bottom of the 9th UPS hit a walk off double to win the game 3-2.
