#3 ALFRED STATE, #5 LA ROCHE ADVANCE TO AMCC SEMIFINALS

The #3 Alfred State College Pioneers defeated #6 Mount Aloysius College 3-1, while #5 La Roche University earned the 3-1 upset win over #4 Wells College on Wednesday night. The Pioneers and Redhawks both advance to the AMCC Semifinals hosted by Penn State Altoona on Saturday afternoon. 

#3 Alfred State earned the 3-1 victory over #6 Mount Aloysius by defeating the Mounties in four sets (25-22, 25-27, 25-20, 25-17) to advance to the AMCC semifinals. Racquel Gerstenberger led the Pioneers with 14 kills, while Alayna Tomlinson and Caitlyn Gilman each added 13. Nayomie Ferrer Santiago recorded 40 assists and Tomlinson finished the double-double by adding 20 digs. Mount Aloysius sophomore OH Molly Richards had a big night for the Mounties, as she recorded 28 digs and and 19 kills for 19 points on the night.

With the win, Alfred State will take on #2 Penn State Behrend on Saturday at 4:30pm on the campus of Penn State Altoona.

The #5 La Roche Redhawks upset #4 Wells in four sets (25-15, 25-21, 20-25, 25-21) on Wednesday evening. Kalli Grine and Quinn Hughes recorded 12 kills each for the Redhawks, while libero Mackenzie Kerkan had 22 digs on the night. Madison Johnson added 11 assists and three service aces to the win. Leading the way for the Express was Miah Williamson who racked up 18 kills, seven digs, four service aces and two blocks for 23 points.

La Roche advances to play top seed Penn State Altoona in the AMCC semifinals on Saturday at 2:00pm on the Lions' home court.
