On Saturday, October 22, the Alfred State College campus will have it’s annual homecoming festivities. Part of those festivities includes this week’s AMCC Women's Volleyball Game of the Week, featuring the La Roche University Redhawks (11-10, 3-1 AMCC) and the Alfred State College (15-6, 4-0 AMCC) Pioneers.

The Redhawks are on a three game winning streak, with two of those wins coming against conference opponents Hilbert College and Mount Aloysius College. Sophomore MH Quinn Hughes leads the conference with 1.02 blocks per set. Senior OH Bethany Nulph leads the Redhawks, and ranks seventh in the conference, with 2.78 kills per set, while also ranking third with 0.49 service aces per set. Junior DS Mackenzie Kerkan's 3.46 digs per set put her sixth in the AMCC. 

The Pioneer Volleyball team has won ten straight matches and are coming off their first five-set win of the season. Before Wednesday, the Pioneers have dropped only two sets since September 21. A total team effort for Alfred State has kept their winning streak alive. Karleigh Haines has been dominant totaling double digit kills in eight of the last ten matches. Nayomie Ferrer Santiago is averaging the most aces per set and has had over 25 assists in eight of the last ten matches. Racquel Gerstenberger has knotted four double-doubles in the last ten matches, being effective on the offensive and defensive side for Alfred State.
