#3 MT. ALOYSIUS, #5 PENN ST. ALTOONA ADVANCE IN WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

The No. 3 Mount Aloysius College and No. 5 Penn State Altoona women's volleyball teams earned first round victories in the AMCC championship tournament to advance to the semifinal round, slated for Saturday afternoon at top seed Alfred State College. The Mounties won 3-1 over No. 6 La Roche University, while the Altoona Lions got the 3-0 upset victory over No. 4 Pitt-Bradford.

Penn State Altoona 3, Pitt-Bradford 0
The Lions were able to avenge a loss to Pitt-Bradford from earlier this season, when Penn State Altoona fell 3-1 to the Panthers on October 22 in Bradford. Now, Penn State Altoona keeps its season alive by advancing to the AMCC Tournament semifinal round. 

Senior OH Lydia Mock led Penn State Altoona with 12 points on 10 kills and two service aces, and she also tied for the match-high in digs with 15. Barnhart contributed 10 points on eight kills and two aces to go along with 13 digs and three assists. Senior S Kayla Moran totaled 24 assists while adding seven digs, five kills, and two aces. Senior L Erin Lutz tied for the match-high in digs with 15 while leading all players on the night with four aces. Sophomore L/DS Allie Godwin had eight digs. Freshman MB/RS Morgan Fussell led all players in the match with five total blocks, finishing with one solo block and four block assists. Taylor Myers and Makenna Port each recorded one solo block and two block assists.

The Lions will now face top seed Alfred State College this Saturday, November 5 at 2:00 p.m. in Alfred, N.Y.

Mount Aloysius 3, La Roche 1
Mount Aloysius also avenged a loss from earlier this season, when they dropped a 3-1 decision to the Redhawks on October 18. This time, it was the Mounties that came out victorious with the 3-1 win to advance to the AMCC women's volleyball semifinals. 

Mount Aloysius senior OH Ashlee Parrish led the Mounties with a double-double, including a match-high 16 kills, 30 digs, and an assist for 16 points. Freshman OH Molly Richards recorded 12 points on 30 digs and 12 kills. Sophomore RS Kiersten Szpala picked up nine kills, three digs and two blocks for ten points. Sophomore S/DS Sydney Lechner and sophomore S Emma Colyer tied with a match-high 22 assists, while Colyer added 11 digs and Lechner added four. 

The Mounties will return to the court when they face No. 2 Penn State Behrend in the AMCC semifinals. Game time is set for 4:30pm on Saturday, November 5 at Alfred State College.
