BEHREND VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN NCAA TOURNAMENT

The Stockton University (31-3) women's volleyball team defeated Penn State Behrend (19-11) 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-15) in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships hosted by Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Osprey's put a halt on the Behrend Lions postseason play with a straight set win. Stockton hit .363 on the night, knocking down 49 kills on 102 attempts with 12 errors. The Lions led 13-10 in the first set thanks to kills from Kristin Reiland and Alex Parra. The Osprey's used a 9-0 run thanks to seven kills to take the lead for good at 19-13. In the second set, Behrend erased a seven-point deficit to get within two at 22-20.  A pair of kills and a service error lifted the Osprey's to a 25-21 win and a 2-0 lead in the match. Reiland finished with a team-best 10 kills and added seven digs and two assists. Parra tallied seven kills and two blocks in her final collegiate match. Madison Clapper registered 12 digs and Dani Kosslow was able to record 20 assists. The Lions finish their third straight winning season at 19-11 overall.
