The first AMCC Women's Volleyball Game of the Week for the 2017 season features the top two teams heading into conference play. D'Youville College finished the non-conference schedule with an AMCC-best 6-5 record, while Mount Aloysius College compiled a 4-8 record.

The Mount Aloysius women's volleyball team is ready to go in conference play this season. After graduating over half their seniors last year, the Lady Mounties have a whole new crop of players who are gaining momentum as the season progresses. Several of the Mountie players are leading the conference in statistical areas and are continuing to strive to be better. Junior Sarah Fisher leads the conference with her hitting percentage (.300) and is second in kills per set (2.79) and third in total kills (109). She was named AMCC Player of the Week for September 5-10th. Sophomore Emma Pevarnik is second in the conference with service aces per set (0.63) and fifth in assists per set (4.80). Freshman Kylee Clawson is second in the conference in digs per set (4.86) and fifth in total digs (180). Junior Jessica Bressler is third on the team in total kills (73) and in total asssits (143).   The team is young but they are energetic and play with heart and determination. They have set their goals high and they have been working hard to reach them.

The D’Youville women’s volleyball team has been on a roll lately, winning four of their last five games heading into conference play against Mount Aloysius. Seniors Kendyll Smith, Megan Schneider, Alexandra Bubar, and Abby Booth have been very important to the team’s success not only this year, but in years past. The four are complete players as Schneider ranks second in kills (70) and second in digs (117), Smith is first in kills (72) and fifth in digs (49), Booth is second in assists (100), third in service aces (11), and fourth in digs (57) while Bubar is first in digs (134) and fourth in service aces (9). Sophomore McKenna Cartonia has added to the team’s depth and had a breakout second season with the Spartans. She currently leads the team with 137 assists, 15 service aces, and is third with 62 digs. She was most recently named AMCC Player of the Week after a week that saw her tally 10 kills, 19 digs, seven service aces, one block, and 49 assists. Junior Julie Fleming has also been a leader for the team, leading them in blocks, is third in service aces and fourth in kills.
