LA ROCHE, BEHREND EARN TRIPS TO WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP BY WAY OF UPSETS

The #4 La Roche College women's volleyball team advanced to their first-ever AMCC Tournament Championship match after coming back to defeat #1 Penn State Altoona 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-20) on Saturday afternoon.

La Roche junior OH Laura Nath had a game-high 18 kills with senior OH Toni Torchia contributing 13. The offense went through sophomore S Maddie Gestrich and junior S Sarah Storino who combined for 39 assists. AMCC digs leader Hannah Scott had 41 and Christine Aland added two blocks. 

The #3 Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team upset #2 Pitt-Bradford Panthers 3-0 (25-14, 25-20 and 25-16) in the second semifinal game on Saturday afternoon at Penn State Altoona.

Senior OH Rachel Frye led with 10 kills on 20 attempts, while senior S Hannah Saunders dished out 28 assists. Freshman OH Keely Hering had a team-best 12 digs and Madison Clapper joined with double-digit kills with 10.

Behrend will compete for its fourth AMCC Championship, while the Redhawks are playing in their first-ever championship game. The Lions and Redhawks square off tomorow at 1 p.m. at Penn St. Altoona. Tomorrow's championship match will determine who will represent the AMCC in this year's NCAA Tournament.
