FRANCISCAN SWEEPS MEDAILLE TO REPEAT AS AMCC VOLLEYBALL CHAMPS

Franciscan University took an efficient 3-0 route to victory over Medaille College to earn their second straight AMCC women's volleyball title.

The set scores were 25-18, 25-18, 25-20. 

The Lady Barons were the #3 seed and earned their trip to the finals be defeating the top two seeds. Medaille (#1) and Penn St. Altoona (#2) were the regular season co-champions.  Franciscan took down the second seeded Lions in 5 sets last night before sweeping the top seeded Mavericks on Sunday.

The Lady Barons were led by Dani Link (11kills, 10 digs) and Christine Lawrence (11 kills, 9 digs).  Setters Mary Moore and Becca Haven contributed 18 and 16 assists respectively.

For Medaille, setter Simmone Talford was all over the court, recording 33 assists, while Susan Muldoon led a balanced attack with 9 kills.

With the victory Franciscan also earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.  Selections and pairings will be announced Monday.
