BEHREND MAKES IT FIVE STRAIGHT WOMEN'S SOCCER TITLES

The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team earned their fifth AMCC championship in a row and eleventh overall, defeating host and #1 seed Pitt-Bradford, 3-2, in overtime.

Behrend went into the game as the underdog, and fell into a 2-0 hole early on.  Midfielder Olivia Belack, the AMCC's third leading scorer, stepped up to lift their competitve spirit and dominated the Lions' offensive statistics.  The sophomore figured in on all four tallies, collecting two goals and an assist in regulation and then firing a rocket from outside the box that soared into the net for the game-winner in overtime to complete the hat trick.

Panther midfielder Meghan Stuck opened the scoring with a pair of goals and midfielder Kaitlyn Donnelly netted the game-tying marker with 15 minutes remaining in the second half to force the extra period.

UPB goalkeeper Sarah Dailey turned away five Behrend scoring attempts, while Taylor Troyan, the Lions' netminder, made seven saves.  Perhaps her most crucial stop does not appear in the stat sheet, as she thwarted a penalty kick opportunity by Delaney Houtz shortly after Behrend had taken a 3-2 lead.

The tournament win comes with the bonus of securing the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.  The Lions (13-7) will await word on their first round opponent which will be announced Monday.
