WLAX SET TO RETURN TO AMCC IN SPRING 2024; MOUNTIES PICKED TO FINISH FIRST

Women’s lacrosse returns to the AMCC in 2024 for the first time since the spring 2019 season. Mount Aloysius College has been selected by league coaches to finish in first place this year, with La Roche University expected to finish in second. Hilbert College and Wells College have tied for the third spot in conference standings.

Mount Aloysius senior ATT Katie Figinski has been tabbed as the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Figinski was a second team all-conference selection in 2023. She led the team in goals and assists, tallying 40 and eight, respectively. She posted a team-leading 52 draw controls and put away two game-winning goals.

Mounties senior DEF Courtney Vought and La Roche sophomore GK Juliana Hornikel have been named Preseason Defensive Co-Players of the Year.

Vought was a first team all-conference selection in 2023. She led the team with 40 groundballs, to go along with second on the team with 21 caused turnovers. Vought contributed three goals from the defensive position, often leading clearance attempts from the back.

Hornikel was a first team all-conference selection in 2023. She made 141 saves last season for the Redhawks and her 12.82 per game was 11th in NCAA Division III. She led the United East and Redhawks in groundballs per game with 4.09 (45 overall) and caused turnovers with 30. Her 30 caused turnovers placed her in the DIII Top 20 for CT/s per game with 2.73, and was the only GK in the top 20.

The AMCC tournament kicks off on Saturday, April 27 and will conclude with the conference championship game on Saturday, May 4. All games throughout the tournament will be played at the site of the higher seed.
