AMCC BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT SET FOR THIS WEEKEND

AMCC bowlers will hit the lanes this weekend for the 2024 AMCC Bowling Championship Tournament at Pines Plaze Lanes in Pittsburgh, PA. First round play will open up on Friday morning with #4 Penn State Behrend taking on #5 New Jersey City University, and #3 Alvernia University facing off with #6 Pitt-Bradford#1 Saint Vincent College and #2 William Smith College each went 18-2 in conference play and were named Regular Season Co-Champions. The Bearcats won the head-to-head tiebreaker to earn the top seed in the championship tournament. The Bearcats and Herons will each receive first round byes.

Top-seeded Saint Vincent College went 18-2 in regular season play and is looking for its first AMCC title. In the traditional format, the Bearcats are led by freshman Skyy Nicholls, who ranks second in the conference and averages 190.8. Abby Justice tops the Bearcats in Baker play, averaging 18.37, ranking third in the AMCC.

Also with an 18-2 record, William Smith enters the tournament as the #2 seed. Junior Michaela Morgan averages 192.8 in the traditional format and 19.06 in Baker play, ranking first in the AMCC in both categories. Freshman Colleen Jump ranks third in the conference with a 183.0 traditional average and fifth with a 17.92 Baker average.

Alvernia is in the midst of a successful inaugural bowling campaign, finishing the regular season with a 17-3 conference record and the #3 seed in the championship tournament. Freshman Mia Siminitus leads the Golden Wolves, and ranks second in the AMCC with an 18.58 Baker average, while her 181.8 traditional averages ranks fourth. Emily Huntley sits fourth in the league with an 18.19 Baker average and her 175.3 traditional average ranks 10th.

With an 11-9 record, Penn State Behrend enters the tournament as the #4 seed. Leading the Lions is senior Ashley Debich with a 16.93 Baker average and a 161.0 traditional average. Senior Bella Pilyih is right behind her, averaging 16.71 and 160.0, respectively. 

New Jersey City enters the tournament as the #5 seed and a 10-10 record against conference competition. Senior Rebecca Hoff ranks in the top ten in conference rankings, with a 180.7 traditional average and a 17.42 Baker average. 

Rounding out the field, with a 9-11 record, is #6 Pitt-Bradford. Senior Brookelyn Garvey ranks eighth in the AMCC with a 177.3 traditional average, while leading the Panthers with a 17.05 average in Baker play.
