However, New Jersey City came storming back in Baker play, defeating the Lions 808-763 in the 5 Game Baker series. The mega match then went to the Baker best-of-7 series, as the Gothic Knights needed all seven games to walk away with the 4-3 victory and advance to the second round of the tournament.

However, William Smith came storming back in the Baker 5 Game series, getting a big 1003-795 win to even the series at 1-1. William Smith took the first two games in the Best-of-7 Baker series, but Alvernia came right back with the next two games to tie it up. Alvernia won the next game 189-166 before William Smith tied it up at three-all with a 161-136 victory, forcing a seventh game.
