MEDAILLE CLAIMS SIXTH STRAIGHT AMCC BOWLING TITLE

The top two seeds in the AMCC Bowling Championship Tournament squared off Sunday morning in Pittsburgh, PA for the 2023 AMCC Championship Title. #1 Saint Vincent College entered the day undefeated on the weekend, while #2 Medaille University came in with one loss in the double elimination tournament.

Boths teams came out ready to play, as the traditional team format was tight the entire way. Led by Taylor Strickland's 224, Medaille pulled away at the end to take the 964-948 victory and the 1-0 lead in the mega match. Mackenzie Smith added a 201 for Medaille, while Saint Vincent got a 213 from senior Olivia Emmonds.

In the Baker 5 game total pinfall series, Medaille once again started out strong, taking a 236-184 victory in game one. Saint Vincent came back with a narrow 180-179 win in game two, before Medaille bounced back, winning game three 184-168. Saint Vincent picked up a big game four victory, outscoring the Mavs 213-172 to move within 26 pins heading into game five. But it was the Mavs who won game five 192-171 to take the 963-916 overall series victory. This gave Medaille the Match 8 win to force the Baker Best-of-7 series (Match 9) to determine the 2023 AMCC Champion.

Saint Vincent started out 1-0 in the Baker best-of-7 series, taking the 188-166 win in game one. However, Medaille came storming back, taking the next three games by the scores of 215-184, 178-174, and 180-147. Saint Vincent kept themselves in it by taking game five 201-189 before Medaille clinched the title with a 245-201 victory in game six, taking the 4-2 edge in the series.

The title is Medaille's six consecutive AMCC championship, as they have earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. An online selection show will take place on Wednesday, March 29 at 4 p.m. Eastern time and can be viewed at ncaa.com.
