MEDAILLE'S BOWLING NCAA TOURNAMENT RUN COMES TO A CLOSE

The Medaille College women's bowling team returned for day two of the NCAA Tournament Saturday morning. After their win against Bowie State the day before, the Mavericks were slated for a rematch with Mount St. Mary's to determine which team will move on in the tournament.

The Mavericks won the opening traditional match 859-828 putting them ahead 1-0 in the series. Paige Herndon led Medaille rolling a 193 followed by Kendyll Jaskier with a 176, and Sarah Radt with a 175.

In the second Baker match, the Mountaineers edged out a very close 1005-943 win. The Mavericks put up a tough fight all the way until the end but could not overcome the deficit. With the series tied at one each, the Mavs faced the Mountaineers in a Baker best-of-seven for the tiebreaker.

The Mountaineers had all the momentum taking four straight wins (204-190, 289-187, 211-186, 201-164). Radt was the top performer for Medaille rolling a 326 which was good for a 19.17 Baker frame average. Taylor Strickland and Herndon both rolled a 313 (18.41) with Jaskier adding a 292 (17.17). Mackenzie Smith finished with a total pinfall of 222 (17.07) in the loss.

The Mavericks close out their season finishing in the top 12 of all NCAA women's bowling.
