MOUNT ALOYSIUS, MEDAILLE NAMED BOWLING REGULAR SEASON CO-CHAMPS

With the 2021 AMCC bowling regular season in the books, Mount Aloysius College and Medaille College have been named regular season co-champions. The Mounties went a perfect 6-0 in the southern division, while the Mavericks went 5-1 in the northern division. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and social distancing regulations, the round robins were split into two different sites this season. Since all teams did not play each other during the regular season, the winners of each division are considered to be co-champions.

Mount Aloysius will be the No. 1 seed for the southern division, while Medaille will be the No. 1 seed for the northern division at the AMCC championship tournament. Joining them will be New Jersey City University, who picked up the south's No. 2 seed with a 4-2 record, while Saint Vincent College, also with a 4-2 record, garnered the No. 2 seed for the north.

The Mounties went 3-0 for the second time in as many conference events. They started the day off strong with an 812-664 victory over La Roche University in the traditional team format. They continued with an 824-641 win over hosts Penn State Altoona before sweeping the day with their closest match of the day - an 811-746 win over the south's runner-up New Jersey City.

In Erie, the Mavericks went 3-0 at the second round robin event, for an overall record of 5-1. They earned their first win of the day with an 820-702 win over hosts Penn State Behrend. In the second match of the day, Medaille took the 952-856 victory from Hilbert College before earning their third win of the day, a 983-861 triumph over northern division runner-up Saint Vincent.

New Jersey City freshman Rebecca Hoff led the southern division with a 180.67 average on the day, while also picking up the individual high score as she rolled a 210 against La Roche. Mount Aloysius was led by juniors Megan Weaver and Kaitlyn Klein, who averaged a 176.67 and 173.67, respectively, to place second and third individually.

Saint Vincent junior Jessica Guesman was the top individual bowler in the northern division with a 199.33 average. Her best game of the day came against Penn State Behrend when she rolled a 221. Medaille senior Carla Hansen earned the highest individual score of the day when she racked up a 244 against the Bearcats. Hansen's 196.33 average was second-best in the north, while sophomore Sarah Radt's 192.33 placed her third.

The AMCC Championship kicks off with the semifinals on Saturday, March 13 at Sim's Lanes in Beaver Falls, PA. The finals will continue on Saturday, March 20. Due to Covid-19 regulations, family and friends will not be permitted in the facility. The entire championship event will be live streamed on the AMCC website and through tv streaming apps Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon TV.
