MEDAILLE BOWLING NCAA TOURNEY RUN ENDS IN A THRILLER WITH NEBRASKA

The Medaille College women's bowling team run in the NCAA Tournament would come to an end on Thursday following a loss in a rematch with the University of Nebraska. The Mavericks and Huskers were set to go head-to-head once more following the Mavs loss to Vanderbilt University and the Huskers victory over Mount St. Mary's.

The Mavs would go down 1-0 after Nebraska put up over 1000 in the Traditional portion of the match. The Mavs got solid showings from Janelle Pezzimenti, Sarah Radt, and Mackenzie Derleth, rolling a 184, 182 and a 177, respectively. However, it wouldn't be enough as the Mavs dropped the opening contest 1005-836.

The Mavs needed to win the Baker five-game total in order to force a Baker best-of-seven with the winner advancing. Medaille and Nebraska would go on to put on a show and have one of the most entertaining matches of the tournament.

The Mavs would open the match clinging to a 17-pin lead after the first two games. The Huskers would respond by outscoring the Mavs in game three, 213-188, flipping the advantage in favor of Nebraska by eight pins.

Medaille would jump back out in front after game four, regaining the lead heading into the final game of the Baker five-game total leading by ten pins.

Nebraska would save their best game for last, rolling a 245. The Mavs would roll a solid 207, but it wouldn't be enough to force another match, ending their run in the NCAA Tournament.

Three Mavs ended the day with Baker averages over 20, Derleth (21.56), Elizabeth Minnard (20.56) and Pezzimenti (20.3). Carla Hansen and Radt would finish the trip with a 17.57 and 16.56, respectively.
