BOWLERS SET FOR AMCC CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

AMCC bowlers will hit the lanes this Saturday for day one of the 2021 AMCC Bowling Championship Tournament at Sim's Lanes in Beaver Falls, PA. Mount Aloysius College and Medaille College were named AMCC Co-Champions after each team won their respective divisions during regular season round robin play. The Mounties went 6-0 in the southern division, while the Mavericks picked up a 5-1 record in the north. Also joining them in the conference semifinals are New Jersey City University and Saint Vincent College, who both went 4-2 in the regular season. 

Mount Aloysius (6-0) enters the championship tournament as the No. 1 seed in the South Division. They rank second in the conference in Baker format average with a 17.135 average per frame and third in traditional format with a 16.313 average per frame. Senior Michelle Bello led the Mounties in traditional average, with over 18 per frame, while also ranking eighth in the AMCC in overall average per frame (18.04). Junior Megan Weaver is one of two Mounties to have an average over 17 pins per frame in both Baker and traditional formats. She was second on the team in traditional average, helping lead the Mounties to a 3-0 record in AMCC Round Robin #2. She also ranks ninth in overall average per frame (17.67).

With a 5-1 conference mark, Medaille has earned the No. 1 seed in the North Division. Sophomore Sarah Radt led the conference in overall scoring average with 20.158, including the top traditional average of 20.800 and a 19.796 Baker average. Freshman Kendyll Jaskier had a standout freshman campaign, as she finished third in the AMCC in total scoring average (18.805), second in traditional scoring average (19.60) and third in Baker scoring average (18.422).

New Jersey City, with a 4-2 mark in the regular season, will be the No. 2 seed in the South Division. Sophomore Arielle Wallace finished fifth in the league in overall scoring average with a 18.435. She was second in Baker scoring average (18.642) and fourth in traditional scoring average (18.209). Freshman Rebecca Hoff finished the regular season eighth in conference rankings with a 17.453 overall scoring average. 

Also with a 4-2 record in regular season play, Saint Vincent enters the championship as the No. 2 seed in the North Division. Junior Jessica Guesman led both AMCC Round Robins in scoring average, earning Player of the Week honors following the first event.  She finished second in the league in overall scoring average with a 19.221 and also second in traditional scoring average with a 19.314. Senior Dani Koehler ranked fourth with an 18.588 overall scoring average, while finishing third in traditional scoring average with a 18.843.

The semifinals begin at 12:00pm on Saturday, March 13 with Medaille and New Jersey City squaring off and Mount Aloysius taking on Saint Vincent. The finals will conclude on Saturday, March 20. Click here for the full tournament schedule.
