The first AMCC Men's Volleyball Game of the Week for the 2021 season features Hiram College at Medaille College. The game, which is slated for a 2pm start on Saturday, will be the conference opener for both schools. Hiram was ranked fourth in the preseason coaches poll, while Medaille was ranked fifth.

Hiram heads into their first AMCC contest against the Mavericks sitting at 1-1 (0-0 AMCC) on the year. The Terriers opened their first year under Head Coach Kevin Kustura with an emphatic, come-from-behind victory over Geneva, before falling in straight sets to Wittenberg to round out non-conference play. AMCC Preseason Player of the Year Tom Supan leads the way for the Terriers, with 29 kills in eight sets, while juniors Kilvio Montero, Dangelo Boehner and senior Andrew Gard have added 24, 14 and 11 kills each. Junior Andrew Diaz has notched a team-high 43 assists. Defensively, senior Cory Fischer’s tallied a team-high 43 digs, including a program-record 31 in the Terriers’ five-set win over Geneva. As a team, the Terriers are averaging 11.3 kills, 10.9 assists and 13.3 digs per set. 

Medaille enters the Game of the Week with a 1-2 (0-0 AMCC) reord. The Mavs started their season off strong with a solid 3-0 victory over crosstown rival D'Youville College before dropping back-to-back games to Daemen College and their second match against the Saints. Freshman Malachi Jackson leads the AMCC with a .379 hitting percetnage, while ranking fourth with 3.60 kills per set. Freshman Josh Shiflet, Jr. is tops on the team with 17 digs (1.70 d/s). Defensively, junior S Jake Siwy has racked up 79 assists. As a team, Medaille leads the league with a .249 hitting percentage and ranks second with 103 kills and 94 assists.

The two teams hold a 2-2 all-time record against each other. The last match-up came on March 30, 2019, a five-set victory for the Terriers.
