Men's volleyball  in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference will have a new look in Spring 2021.

 

The Presidents Council of the AMCC has approved two changes to affiliate membership.  The council is welcoming Saint Vincent College, while agreeing to the early departure request of Wittenberg University.

 

Spring 2020 is the first season of varsity level competition for Saint Vincent, after many years as a strong and successful club program.  As an independent, the Bearcats currently schedule more than half of the AMCC members who sponsor men's volleyball.  They join two other Presidents Athletic Conference members--Thiel College and Geneva College--as AMCC affiliates in the sport.

 

"The addition of Saint Vincent College is very helpful in strengthening our geographic footprint in men's volleyball," noted AMCC Commissioner Donna Ledwin.  "Saint Vincent has proven themselves to be a competitive and reliable partner of the AMCC as affiliate members in women's bowling, and we are confident that they will also make us better as a league in men's volleyball."

 

As the sport's sponsorship has grown at Division III schools across the Midwest, Wittenberg will be pursuing conference affiliation closer to their primary geographic footprint as well.

 

"We are grateful for the two year partnership with Wittenberg," stated Ledwin.  "They are a first class institution and program and we wish them much success in the future."

 

The AMCC has eight members which sponsor men's volleyball, which was established as a championship sport last year.  The conference will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament effective with the Spring 2021 season.
