Penn State Altoona men's volleyball's freshman outside/opposite hitter Brandon Arentz has been picked as the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Division III South Region Rookie of the Week in the sport.

Arentz had an all-around strong week for the Lions, helping his team lock up the North Eastern Athletic Conference regular season title last weekend and clinching the top seed in the conference's upcoming postseason tournament.

In a tight 3-2 loss at non-conference opponent Thiel College last Tuesday night, Arentz had 11 kills, eight digs, one solo block, and one block assist. In the Lions' 3-0 win over NEAC opponent Lancaster Bible College on Saturday afternoon that clinched the top spot in the conference, he posted seven kills, four digs, one solo block, and one block assist. Later that day, in a 3-0 victory over NEAC foe Wilson College, Arentz had nine kills, 12 digs, and one solo block.

On the week, Arentz totaled 27 kills (2.45 kills per set), 24 digs (2.18 digs per set), and five total blocks (0.46 blocks per set). He also recorded an attack percentage of .284 for the week.

This is the third time this season that Arentz has been recognized as the ECAC's Division III South Region Rookie of the Week.
