HILBERT'S SCHWAB NAMED NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

HILBERT'S SCHWAB NAMED NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Hilbert junior Korey Schwab was named the Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week for the week ending March 29 and became the first Hilbert College men's volleyball player to be recognized in their weekly honor.

Schwab collected 53 kills (.370) and averaged 4.82 kills per set as Hilbert sandwiched wins over Lancaster Bible and Penn State Altoona around a loss to Keuka.

The Lockport, N.Y. native opened the March 28 NEAC cross-over weekend with 18 kills and zero hitting errors (.600) to lead the Hawks to a season sweep over Lancaster Bible.  Schwab then added 8 kills and one service ace later that night against Keuka.  But it was in the 5-set electrifying match the following morning against Penn State Altoona where Schwab shinned.  He finished with 27 kills (.377), 14 digs and one block assist.

Schwab is Hilbert's leader in kills averaging 3.16 kills per set and averages 1.58 digs per set having played in all 93 sets to date for the Hawks.

Each week Sports Imports and the American Volleyball Coaches Association recognize deserving student-athletes at the collegiate level who have demonstrated outstanding play on the court throughout the week of competition.
